Hello, my happy, little, Armidalian Armadillos. How ya'll doing?
Halloween soon, as Annie should well know (this is happy birthday, unless I somehow find time to email you...so HAPPY BIRTHDAY! HOPE IT'S A GREAT ONE!). Got Ari's party - going trick-or-treating and am sewing an Alice in Wonderland costume, inspired by the movie, not the book.
On other notes, I have a youtube account, with which I posted my TedxYouth@Sydney submission. :) Hopefully, I'll get selected...
In other news, it's Mrs G's birthday, so her party is on saturday and I FINALLY GET TO SEE ALANA again (that was a hint, Lana, btw), which is really exciting. Our story is also coming along very nicely, though slowed by NaNoWriMo (national novel writing month - 50,000 words in november).
What else? Limewire shut down...(sob)...FrostWire installed (not as good, but does the job...and re-addicted to Amy Meredith.
Ahh, now I've finally got a chance to blog the words have all dried up. Maybe it's because I have no-one to read it.It's kinda hard to have a onesided conversation, but with all my multiple personalities, I should be quite good by now.
Oh, when you all get back - I won't see anyone this thursday, 'cause I'm at camp, but the next thursday is good. =)
See people soon, I hope.
It's quiet in my head without all your voices.

Restraint...
Yeah, after seeing the 400gazillion blogs over thursday and friday, I made myself NOT BLOG AT ALL yesterday.
Do you have any idea how hard that was? Seriously? Cause I don't think you do, all you LAZY BLOGGERS. Sheesh.
Anyways, unless I'm seriously mistakes (more likely than not) you're off to Armidale today or tomorrow, so you'll have an excuse. *sigh*.
I'll be aaaawwwwwlll aaaallllooonnnne (that was meant to be singing, btw) but hey, I've got writing, and Tess' dirty editing of half written sentences to keep me occupied. That, and the work I actually should be doing. *sigh*
Anyway, the point of this blog was to say two things. The first of which was to make sure you know how hard it was yesterday to not blog, and the second being that I want to hope you all have a brilliant time! =)

Hangin' Out for the Weekend
Okay, I'm breathing normally again after that last post. I was really ticked off. Not sure if you noticed. ^^
So, finally! It's Friday and I've spent this glorious afternoon making the biggest banana smoothie I've ever seen, with ice and yoghurt and milk and banannananananas. =) And then I drank it and am superduper full.
And I've been reading and writing and sitting on the couch, watching MTV with the glass veranda doors open dreaming of Summer.
I've got this happy-excited fluttery feeling in my chest which I always get when thinking about swimming with friends, or long, lovely, lazy days and music and cold drinks and flip flops and shorts and stretching out in the shade in the middle of the day.
Of course, it could also be from the music I'm listening too and the story I'm working on, on which I've FINALLY found a name for one of the two main OCs (original characters). Her first name is Andy, and her surname is now...
wait for it...
Windgrave!
Which, trust me, might not seem like much, but is perfect.
Well, I must admit, I didn't really find it. It's the name (well, Wingrave) of one of the new girl's and she said it at roll call, and Tess turned to me from a few tables away and just mouthed it at me, kinda slow-mo and totally obvious, her eyes wide open and looking kinda like a comic book character and hilarious and BAM. We stole her name.
I've been thinking of yoga, and a good day by the lake, and summer storms and am getting excited, for no apparent reason.
But I'm happy. It's funny - the two things that I can't live without are my friends, who make me laugh, and my head, where I'm free to do anything I want.
Ah, well.
I've discovered some great new music, this afternoon, too! Ahh, it's a beautiful day. Sorry for the blogging overload!

Not really sorry...
Argh. Good day. Bad day.
Don't you just hate it when people say something bitchy about you or a friend, and then you hear them, and say something, and THEN they go, 'Oh, I'm so sorry!' like they're suddenly your ridiculously snarky new best friend?
And then they turn back to whatever they were saying, giggle and keep going. You're left there going...
Hello, STUPID! I'm still freaking here, and I don't like it anymore than I did the FIRST FREAKING TIME!
And guess what? I'M so SORRY that I was here to hear you bitching. Actually, NOT REALLY, cause you just confirmed exactly what a BIATCH I already thought you were. And do you know what I AM really sorry for? The fact that you are so insecure and miserable in yourself that you feel you have to do that!
And no, I didn't sleep with ANYONE when I was fourteen - and I don't plan on changing that anytime in the next few years. But it's okay - I'll still hold your hand when you're giving birth, age 24 to your ex-boyfriends baby in hospital and I'm a fully trained doctor, with a FUTURE.

Yeah, I'm really so sorry you're going to ruin your life like that.
Really. Really. Sorry.

Dancing through life.
This post is for Amanda (mostly), then Eve, Debbie and a teensy bit Anita. It's kinda a rip off of Nit's Blogging the Interwebs, but not?

Wall love.
Thanks, Deb, for that title. XD
Anyways, exciting news! Dad said I could decorate my room at his place (at the moment, it's pretty bare) and he even said maybe to the picture I'm about to post. WHOOOT!
Anyways, I want one wall pale blue, and two lavender, and one like this, with the shelves. Never going to happen, of course, but I can dream, right?
And I'm allowed to make ceiling drapes. =) Anyways, if it comes through, then I want help papering my wall! Any volunteers? :)
Now, on a totally different and non-pretty but totally awesome note -this is from buffy, they are both 'good guys' but they don't exactly get along. It's funny. Very funny.

Quiet on the western front
Just love those cool sounding cliches, don't you?
Anyway, I'm getting sad, because NO-ONE IS BLOGGING!
That was a *hint hint*, for those of you missed it.
Anyway, today has been a very good day so far, and it's only recess. Wanna know why?
Because (I sense another incoming list...) a) the people at the nursing home this morning were wide awake and firing on all pistons and i made some new friends. =)
b) dt was cool - we did our silver cast rings and
c) IM SEEING PEOPLE ON THURSDAY!! YAAY! :)

Just had a mega-cram to finish a textiles project we were meant to do over the hols, only I couldn't. My moodboard actually looks half-okay, too (better than in the picture) and the pics I found for it are amazing. =D Happy!
Proves that I do work okay under pressure. =)
And there was something else I wanted to say, aside from BLOG MORE!
Oh yeah! I'm changing my designskin thingo. =)

Pictures of France.
Yeah, people. It's finally happened - I've uploaded pictures! Yaay!
Only, the thing is that because I don't want to have an uber long blog post full of pictures, I'll put a few here and the rest on my gallery page for those of you who are interested.

Some happy days...
I was just thinking very happily that Summer is coming, which is the most exciting thing I can think of aside from a) 101 Things to Do Before I Get Caught (Eeeeeek!), b) Someday Maybe (feel free to ask - it's brilliant, if I may say so myself) and c) My brilliant new playlist.
While I'm on the topic of Happy Days, thank you so much to Anita for her brilliant party, and thanks also to her mum and brother for a) helping her b) having us and c) putting up with us! (I'm really into lists, today). I'm putting all the bits of paper and things in my wall of stuff (yeah, thanks, Charlie) at dad's house (I'm wallpapering one whole wall in cool stuff to save on paint costs...)
Anyway, when I was thinking that summer was coming, I thought about the pictures I took for a Summer themed lookbook.nu thing in Autumn, then totally forgot about. Because I wanted to put them into a mosaic (three pics) but can't work out how, I'll put one up there and a few up here. These are for Debbie and Carrie, btw, for reminding me on Sunday and with their brilliant new pictures.

Tick tock, on the clock...
Then there was something about mice that got beaten up pretty bad by an inanimate object, which is kinda sad cause mice don't really cause that much trouble.
For some reason, mice always get the short straw in nursery rhymes, which, incidentally, John and I were trying to recite today and found we'd FORGOTTEN almost all of them.
Example 1;
It took me a good ten minutes to remember the words to Mary, Mary, and that used to be my favourite, and I'm still not sure it's right.
Mary, Mary, quite contrary;
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells and cockel shells;
And pretty maids all in a row.

However, I refuse to Google it. I will my computer that satisfaction.
Anyways, there are a few, normal, day to day reasons for this post. The first is, most namely;
I don't wanna go back to school!
Now, I know that all you PLC gals and Trinity guys will be going suck it up, you've had an extra week! and even more sadly, I know that you're right. But still, I'm going back to school more exhausted than when I went on holidays.
Next:
Who the hell serves breakfast at 4.30 in the morning?!?!

Qantas, that's who, according the flight attendent who walked down the plane aisle "WHISPERING"
WAKEY WAKEY, BREAKFAST IS SERVED!

I got news for you, mate. NOT AT 4.30 IN THE MORNING IT ISN'T!
Next:
I got a Grumpy t-shirt!
Exciting, isn't it? We went to Paris Disneyland, and I couldn't resist. They were just too cool. Say cheese!

And I got a cool but awfully tourist-ey University of Paris tee, which, of course, has no affiliation WHATSOEVER with the University of Paris.
So. Yeah. NEXT:
I'm excited about Anita's party!
And kinda guilty. Really, guilty. Urgh. Guilt. I feel I'm on the verge of developing an Atlantis Complex (NEW ARTEMIS FOWL BOOK OUT! Itss funnniie)
Yaaaaaaaaaaiyyyyyyyyyyyyy (about Anita's.)
Nessxt, my preeessccccciiiiooouuuss:
Ok, this is the big one. You ready?
I'm seriously considering getting facebook.
See how serious (sirius! lol) this is? I actually wrote the word, rather than just fb.
Okay - this may not be a big deal for anyone else but it is kinda for me seeing as one of my main goals in life is to see the downfall of that evil supergiant , but I've got a bad feeling it's about to join my very long list of aptly titled ridiculously hypocratical moronic stuff i've done.

So, the main reason is I feel I'm falling way to out of touch with PLC peeps, and I hate hate hate it. Almost more than anything.
My qualms, though, are many. (wow, I sounded like a total wanker, there).
I mean, do you have any idea how many stupid, hugely damaging fights I've seen between good friends. I mean, I see my friends writing stupid, offensive things about their other close friends on their BLOGS without realising it, or meaning it in any nasty way. I know I'm probably the same.
The thing is, I don't want to lose any friends because of fb.
The next major issue is MAJOR distraction. As in, freaking HUGE.
Any opinions, anyone? HELP!

Really, really delayed
So next we were off to Aix en Provence, which was amazing. Because John is waiting for me to finish and I am lazy, I'm going to write a list, rather than a blog post. The stupid iPad isnt connectingto the net now because of bloody Australia crappy simcard good for nothing phone companies.
*now i'm writing from sydney, got home and hour ago*
1. We did this brilliant market tour, where we tasted all the fresh food, produce and products (this is where the artisan attitude lecture really should have gone, rather than in Nice)
2. American Apparrel. meh.
3. The 'perched and hanging villages of Luberon'. now, to clarify, Luberon is not infact a brand of sex product (had me fooled, too) but a reigon in Provonceal france that is, in fact, really amazingly pretty. photos later (maybe...).
wow. im tired. and lazy. im not going to finish the france posts, heading back to real life. LIKE ANITAS BIRTHDAY! YAAAAY!

Nice in nice
Well,, this is really dElayed as i left Nice like four days ago, and i considered giving this a miss completely, but i coldly resist having a post called Nice in Nice. W
Yeah, Hallmark card Co. You know you want me.
Anyways, Nice is pretty, but not the amazingnes that I've been told.for a start, the beaches, like all of Europe, are stone and pebble. If you lived in europe and were after a close-ish beach holiday, i can see why it would be good...they get heaps of sun, its really warm, the water is beautiful, but coming from Australia where we have AMAZING beaches, it was a teeny, tiny bit of a let down.
Anyways, we arrived at night, so dropped our bagsat the hotel then walked to dinner.
We'rewalking everywhere in France...makes me feel a tiny bit better about the amount of ftty foods I've been eating.
I had some amazing squid (Nice is famous for seafood) and cannelloni.
Lemme tell you, even though it's an itialian dish, there is cannelloni EVERYWHERE! and it's good, too...
So we ate and it was brilliant.
Now, my mental memory clock is missing a few cogs, hand and numbers, so im not even going to bother qith putting any of this in tome order.
We went to these amazing food markets, which were so cool and smelt amazing. They were artisan markets and farmers markets....yummy.
I Shoukd probably explain a little something to you about french mentality about what they do.
France, the word artisan basically translates as craftsman. Food is a craft, most certainly. For example, to become a pastry chef, you have to complete a four year diploma. FOUR YEARS! You only do medicine in five.
There are a thousand caves, and, more importantly, food stores.
There's the boulangerie (bakery), patisserie (duh), fromargerie, boucherie, charcuterie....fruits de mer, farmers markets....wow. Coffe shoppssell only coffee, same goes for olive oil, or occasionallyicecream.
So at the farmersmarlket, there was so much fresh produce...a man who sold only mushrooms (weirdest thongs ever, some of those mushroom!), crystalized fruitsand flowers...
I cant describe here how amazing the food markets are...ask me for photos later.
So, as i said earlier, the beaches of nice are pebbled in grey. In some small spots, however (the beaches are divided up, owned by the hotels) they had imported sand! From Australia!
No kidding.
We also went to Monaco which is in fact. A different country about a 20minute trine trip from Nice. It was beautiful, but very touristy - the national industry is tourism, the main attraction gambling. Its all huge, bueautiful leisure boats and marinas in casinos.
It was pretty, but a complete tourist trap. Despite almost all of the countries annual income being from gambling,, its illegal for it's citizens to use any of the casinos there. Guess the king (the old one married one of my fav actresses grace Kelly) doesn't want people spending their money gambling instead pfnon taxes.
We also had some brilliant seafood there... Fairly cheap 'jumbo shrimp' turned out to be amazing crayfish, there were beautiful mussels, fresh fish, squid, octopus....
For a Quasimodo ego, I sur love seafood.
Anyway, soon we headed off to Provence - a town called Aix en Provence (which imm on the train, leaving). So that'll be a new post.
Au revoir

Back again...
Well, this has been exciting =) (and kinda lonely, cause no-one is commenting...HINT HINT)
We went to notredamn, which was amazing enough to have me planning a new story, damnit :)
and saint chappelle SP. which was soooo pwretty, and i'll attch pictures later.
We've been to the show stopping lourve, where we saw my possibly favorite sculpture of all rime - the winged victory. Then there's michaelangelos slaves, and august rodin's the kiss.
I love marble sculpture- really, really love it.
We also saw a massive Monet exhibition (the biggest in 30 years, they tell me) which was amazing. Saw the Monet classics, like the waterlilly bridge and they haystacks, but his work is amazing!
Then off we headed to gallerie la fayette (Lafayette inenglish - the cram it together) which is a HUGE shopping center. Looked for a leather jacket, only to be freaked out by all the real fur on that floor...gave me nightmares and made my skin prickle! Despitebwearing leather, which is kinda the same, fur seems kinda wrong...hypocritical, I know.
Anyway, after finding the worlds coolest jeans (light blue, skinny and ripped w/ sequins behind some parts, and soft as velvet) which they only had in size 44 and bigger (size 14approx) I got a cool scarf and top.
I kinda feel like a massive dork walking round Paris in jeans, sandshoes and baggie t-shirts with bad jokes in english on them...actually, I look like a complete loser - everyone dresses so well!
Yesterday I finally crumbled and bought a Paris hod die, though made it a uni of paris one rather than I heart Paris. Notbmuch difference, i know, but makes me feel less sad. :D
Yesterday, we also went to montemart, which is kinda the bohemian, artist area of Paris. Thats where the moulin rouge is, as well as where salavador Dali painted. Speaking of whom, we found a little Dali exhibition and went, which was pretty cool. Mum and John don't like his work that much, but I reckon it's pretty amazing. The Black, bold, spidery lines and sketches combined into an amazing linograph with the most beautiful, spectacular and not a little weird watercolor illustrations. His alice in wonderland illustrations are amazing, well worth a Google!
Anyway, at montmarte we climbed the 300 stairs to the top for the amazing, if graffitied view. I really don't see why people feel the need to declare their love for somone in god awful handwriting a lll over the walls of an ancient cathedral...
Anyway, on the steps of the cathedral, there was a sorta reverse busking thing happening. A busier from Africa was singing, then he got people from the audience to come up and he'd do guitar while they sang a song of their choice, then he collected money. Anyway, this lady called Alex from Australia came up and sang hallelujah, and she was AMAZING!
Strolling through the streets of montmarte with fresh crepes and gelatin was amazing.
ANITA! IHAD ORANGINA! (the drink they keep talking about in tapis volant) it's basically just orange juice + mineral water, only not as good.
Not sure if i wrote about Versailles in a previous post, but it was amazingly...OTT. I mean, you understand why they had the French revolution - the entire population was starving, and they use the entire treasury to build a new summer palace, covered in gold leaf.
And the food- not at versailles - thatbwas awful, but everywhere else, has been amaing! Not to make yup jealous (or hungry! :P) but I'll give you a rundown nof the best...
In Paris:
French onion soup - its really good, and they melt massive amounts of delicious cheese into it, over pieces of bread, in a small pot. Yuuuuummmmmm.
Top of the eiffel tower, before we were evacuated for a bomb threat, we finished our entree, which was a chilled pea soup. Greener than elphebas skin, it was amazing, with a tiny bit of cheese, minute silvers of bacon and fresh bread.
Squid (THIS IS NUMBER ONE- THE BEST OF FRANCE, BTW) that was cut into strips like pasta and was so fresh and sweet it was unbelievable. It had the the yolk of a soft-boiled, runny egg in the middle which ran all over the squid when you cracked it. This also had a bit of parmesan like cheese and a bit of bacon. Basicially, It was a reeeeaaaaalllyy fancy carbonara, simplified downnto it's base elements, only instead of pasta it had ribbon thin, centimeter wide strands of squid.
A little goats cheese and tomato tart. I'm a complete sucker for goats cheese, so wows, i was hooked.
A lobster tail risotto- i think this is number two on the best of list - it was tiny pieces of lobster in a thick, almost soupy, creamy, amazing risotto which was both light and really heart at the same time.I just can't quite describe how amazingly the flavors blend together.
A beef stew - I'm not big on meat- most of what i usually order is seafood or vegetarian. But this was rich, hearty, warm, salty, sweet- everything a stew should be. Really - it was Hogwarts worthy.
and no, I didn't eat all that food. Some was mums or johns that I tried and WISHED I'd ordered.
And and and I think I forgot to mention the amazing gargoyles at notredamn. When I find a CPU, I'll attach some.
We're in nice now, and because I haven't been able to post that blog for so man-days, I'll stArt a new post for the south.
Congrats on the dog, Carrie, thigh the fb thing sucks. Good work dancing Debbie and have a great time, em! Everyone else, have a brilliant holiday!
:) j'adore, k
