Armadillos
Hello, my happy, little, Armidalian Armadillos. How ya'll doing?
Halloween soon, as Annie should well know (this is happy birthday, unless I somehow find time to email you...so HAPPY BIRTHDAY! HOPE IT'S A GREAT ONE!). Got Ari's party - going trick-or-treating and am sewing an Alice in Wonderland costume, inspired by the movie, not the book.
On other notes, I have a youtube account, with which I posted my TedxYouth@Sydney submission. :) Hopefully, I'll get selected...
In other news, it's Mrs G's birthday, so her party is on saturday and I FINALLY GET TO SEE ALANA again (that was a hint, Lana, btw), which is really exciting. Our story is also coming along very nicely, though slowed by NaNoWriMo (national novel writing month - 50,000 words in november).
What else? Limewire shut down...(sob)...FrostWire installed (not as good, but does the job...and re-addicted to Amy Meredith.
Ahh, now I've finally got a chance to blog the words have all dried up. Maybe it's because I have no-one to read it.It's kinda hard to have a onesided conversation, but with all my multiple personalities, I should be quite good by now.
Oh, when you all get back - I won't see anyone this thursday, 'cause I'm at camp, but the next thursday is good. =)
See people soon, I hope.
It's quiet in my head without all your voices.

Restraint...
Yeah, after seeing the 400gazillion blogs over thursday and friday, I made myself NOT BLOG AT ALL yesterday.
Do you have any idea how hard that was? Seriously? Cause I don't think you do, all you LAZY BLOGGERS. Sheesh.
Anyways, unless I'm seriously mistakes (more likely than not) you're off to Armidale today or tomorrow, so you'll have an excuse. *sigh*.
I'll be aaaawwwwwlll aaaallllooonnnne (that was meant to be singing, btw) but hey, I've got writing, and Tess' dirty editing of half written sentences to keep me occupied. That, and the work I actually should be doing. *sigh*
Anyway, the point of this blog was to say two things. The first of which was to make sure you know how hard it was yesterday to not blog, and the second being that I want to hope you all have a brilliant time! =)

Hangin' Out for the Weekend
Okay, I'm breathing normally again after that last post. I was really ticked off. Not sure if you noticed. ^^
So, finally! It's Friday and I've spent this glorious afternoon making the biggest banana smoothie I've ever seen, with ice and yoghurt and milk and banannananananas. =) And then I drank it and am superduper full.
And I've been reading and writing and sitting on the couch, watching MTV with the glass veranda doors open dreaming of Summer.
I've got this happy-excited fluttery feeling in my chest which I always get when thinking about swimming with friends, or long, lovely, lazy days and music and cold drinks and flip flops and shorts and stretching out in the shade in the middle of the day.
Of course, it could also be from the music I'm listening too and the story I'm working on, on which I've FINALLY found a name for one of the two main OCs (original characters). Her first name is Andy, and her surname is now...
wait for it...
Windgrave!
Which, trust me, might not seem like much, but is perfect.
Well, I must admit, I didn't really find it. It's the name (well, Wingrave) of one of the new girl's and she said it at roll call, and Tess turned to me from a few tables away and just mouthed it at me, kinda slow-mo and totally obvious, her eyes wide open and looking kinda like a comic book character and hilarious and BAM. We stole her name.
I've been thinking of yoga, and a good day by the lake, and summer storms and am getting excited, for no apparent reason.
But I'm happy. It's funny - the two things that I can't live without are my friends, who make me laugh, and my head, where I'm free to do anything I want.
Ah, well.
I've discovered some great new music, this afternoon, too! Ahh, it's a beautiful day. Sorry for the blogging overload!

Not really sorry...
Argh. Good day. Bad day.
Don't you just hate it when people say something bitchy about you or a friend, and then you hear them, and say something, and THEN they go, 'Oh, I'm so sorry!' like they're suddenly your ridiculously snarky new best friend?
And then they turn back to whatever they were saying, giggle and keep going. You're left there going...
Hello, STUPID! I'm still freaking here, and I don't like it anymore than I did the FIRST FREAKING TIME!
And guess what? I'M so SORRY that I was here to hear you bitching. Actually, NOT REALLY, cause you just confirmed exactly what a BIATCH I already thought you were. And do you know what I AM really sorry for? The fact that you are so insecure and miserable in yourself that you feel you have to do that!
And no, I didn't sleep with ANYONE when I was fourteen - and I don't plan on changing that anytime in the next few years. But it's okay - I'll still hold your hand when you're giving birth, age 24 to your ex-boyfriends baby in hospital and I'm a fully trained doctor, with a FUTURE.

Yeah, I'm really so sorry you're going to ruin your life like that.
Really. Really. Sorry.

Dancing through life.
This post is for Amanda (mostly), then Eve, Debbie and a teensy bit Anita. It's kinda a rip off of Nit's Blogging the Interwebs, but not?

Wall love.
Thanks, Deb, for that title. XD
Anyways, exciting news! Dad said I could decorate my room at his place (at the moment, it's pretty bare) and he even said maybe to the picture I'm about to post. WHOOOT!
Anyways, I want one wall pale blue, and two lavender, and one like this, with the shelves. Never going to happen, of course, but I can dream, right?
And I'm allowed to make ceiling drapes. =) Anyways, if it comes through, then I want help papering my wall! Any volunteers? :)
Now, on a totally different and non-pretty but totally awesome note -this is from buffy, they are both 'good guys' but they don't exactly get along. It's funny. Very funny.

Quiet on the western front
Just love those cool sounding cliches, don't you?
Anyway, I'm getting sad, because NO-ONE IS BLOGGING!
That was a *hint hint*, for those of you missed it.
Anyway, today has been a very good day so far, and it's only recess. Wanna know why?
Because (I sense another incoming list...) a) the people at the nursing home this morning were wide awake and firing on all pistons and i made some new friends. =)
b) dt was cool - we did our silver cast rings and
c) IM SEEING PEOPLE ON THURSDAY!! YAAY! :)

Just had a mega-cram to finish a textiles project we were meant to do over the hols, only I couldn't. My moodboard actually looks half-okay, too (better than in the picture) and the pics I found for it are amazing. =D Happy!
Proves that I do work okay under pressure. =)
And there was something else I wanted to say, aside from BLOG MORE!
Oh yeah! I'm changing my designskin thingo. =)

Pictures of France.
Yeah, people. It's finally happened - I've uploaded pictures! Yaay!
Only, the thing is that because I don't want to have an uber long blog post full of pictures, I'll put a few here and the rest on my gallery page for those of you who are interested.

Some happy days...
I was just thinking very happily that Summer is coming, which is the most exciting thing I can think of aside from a) 101 Things to Do Before I Get Caught (Eeeeeek!), b) Someday Maybe (feel free to ask - it's brilliant, if I may say so myself) and c) My brilliant new playlist.
While I'm on the topic of Happy Days, thank you so much to Anita for her brilliant party, and thanks also to her mum and brother for a) helping her b) having us and c) putting up with us! (I'm really into lists, today). I'm putting all the bits of paper and things in my wall of stuff (yeah, thanks, Charlie) at dad's house (I'm wallpapering one whole wall in cool stuff to save on paint costs...)
Anyway, when I was thinking that summer was coming, I thought about the pictures I took for a Summer themed lookbook.nu thing in Autumn, then totally forgot about. Because I wanted to put them into a mosaic (three pics) but can't work out how, I'll put one up there and a few up here. These are for Debbie and Carrie, btw, for reminding me on Sunday and with their brilliant new pictures.

Tick tock, on the clock...
Then there was something about mice that got beaten up pretty bad by an inanimate object, which is kinda sad cause mice don't really cause that much trouble.
For some reason, mice always get the short straw in nursery rhymes, which, incidentally, John and I were trying to recite today and found we'd FORGOTTEN almost all of them.
Example 1;
It took me a good ten minutes to remember the words to Mary, Mary, and that used to be my favourite, and I'm still not sure it's right.
Mary, Mary, quite contrary;
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells and cockel shells;
And pretty maids all in a row.

However, I refuse to Google it. I will my computer that satisfaction.
Anyways, there are a few, normal, day to day reasons for this post. The first is, most namely;
I don't wanna go back to school!
Now, I know that all you PLC gals and Trinity guys will be going suck it up, you've had an extra week! and even more sadly, I know that you're right. But still, I'm going back to school more exhausted than when I went on holidays.
Next:
Who the hell serves breakfast at 4.30 in the morning?!?!

Qantas, that's who, according the flight attendent who walked down the plane aisle "WHISPERING"
WAKEY WAKEY, BREAKFAST IS SERVED!

I got news for you, mate. NOT AT 4.30 IN THE MORNING IT ISN'T!
Next:
I got a Grumpy t-shirt!
Exciting, isn't it? We went to Paris Disneyland, and I couldn't resist. They were just too cool. Say cheese!

And I got a cool but awfully tourist-ey University of Paris tee, which, of course, has no affiliation WHATSOEVER with the University of Paris.
So. Yeah. NEXT:
I'm excited about Anita's party!
And kinda guilty. Really, guilty. Urgh. Guilt. I feel I'm on the verge of developing an Atlantis Complex (NEW ARTEMIS FOWL BOOK OUT! Itss funnniie)
Yaaaaaaaaaaiyyyyyyyyyyyyy (about Anita's.)
Nessxt, my preeessccccciiiiooouuuss:
Ok, this is the big one. You ready?
I'm seriously considering getting facebook.
See how serious (sirius! lol) this is? I actually wrote the word, rather than just fb.
Okay - this may not be a big deal for anyone else but it is kinda for me seeing as one of my main goals in life is to see the downfall of that evil supergiant , but I've got a bad feeling it's about to join my very long list of aptly titled ridiculously hypocratical moronic stuff i've done.

So, the main reason is I feel I'm falling way to out of touch with PLC peeps, and I hate hate hate it. Almost more than anything.
My qualms, though, are many. (wow, I sounded like a total wanker, there).
I mean, do you have any idea how many stupid, hugely damaging fights I've seen between good friends. I mean, I see my friends writing stupid, offensive things about their other close friends on their BLOGS without realising it, or meaning it in any nasty way. I know I'm probably the same.
The thing is, I don't want to lose any friends because of fb.
The next major issue is MAJOR distraction. As in, freaking HUGE.
Any opinions, anyone? HELP!

Really, really delayed
So next we were off to Aix en Provence, which was amazing. Because John is waiting for me to finish and I am lazy, I'm going to write a list, rather than a blog post. The stupid iPad isnt connectingto the net now because of bloody Australia crappy simcard good for nothing phone companies.
*now i'm writing from sydney, got home and hour ago*
1. We did this brilliant market tour, where we tasted all the fresh food, produce and products (this is where the artisan attitude lecture really should have gone, rather than in Nice)
2. American Apparrel. meh.
3. The 'perched and hanging villages of Luberon'. now, to clarify, Luberon is not infact a brand of sex product (had me fooled, too) but a reigon in Provonceal france that is, in fact, really amazingly pretty. photos later (maybe...).
wow. im tired. and lazy. im not going to finish the france posts, heading back to real life. LIKE ANITAS BIRTHDAY! YAAAAY!

Nice in nice
Well,, this is really dElayed as i left Nice like four days ago, and i considered giving this a miss completely, but i coldly resist having a post called Nice in Nice. W
Yeah, Hallmark card Co. You know you want me.
Anyways, Nice is pretty, but not the amazingnes that I've been told.for a start, the beaches, like all of Europe, are stone and pebble. If you lived in europe and were after a close-ish beach holiday, i can see why it would be good...they get heaps of sun, its really warm, the water is beautiful, but coming from Australia where we have AMAZING beaches, it was a teeny, tiny bit of a let down.
Anyways, we arrived at night, so dropped our bagsat the hotel then walked to dinner.
We'rewalking everywhere in France...makes me feel a tiny bit better about the amount of ftty foods I've been eating.
I had some amazing squid (Nice is famous for seafood) and cannelloni.
Lemme tell you, even though it's an itialian dish, there is cannelloni EVERYWHERE! and it's good, too...
So we ate and it was brilliant.
Now, my mental memory clock is missing a few cogs, hand and numbers, so im not even going to bother qith putting any of this in tome order.
We went to these amazing food markets, which were so cool and smelt amazing. They were artisan markets and farmers markets....yummy.
I Shoukd probably explain a little something to you about french mentality about what they do.
France, the word artisan basically translates as craftsman. Food is a craft, most certainly. For example, to become a pastry chef, you have to complete a four year diploma. FOUR YEARS! You only do medicine in five.
There are a thousand caves, and, more importantly, food stores.
There's the boulangerie (bakery), patisserie (duh), fromargerie, boucherie, charcuterie....fruits de mer, farmers markets....wow. Coffe shoppssell only coffee, same goes for olive oil, or occasionallyicecream.
So at the farmersmarlket, there was so much fresh produce...a man who sold only mushrooms (weirdest thongs ever, some of those mushroom!), crystalized fruitsand flowers...
I cant describe here how amazing the food markets are...ask me for photos later.
So, as i said earlier, the beaches of nice are pebbled in grey. In some small spots, however (the beaches are divided up, owned by the hotels) they had imported sand! From Australia!
No kidding.
We also went to Monaco which is in fact. A different country about a 20minute trine trip from Nice. It was beautiful, but very touristy - the national industry is tourism, the main attraction gambling. Its all huge, bueautiful leisure boats and marinas in casinos.
It was pretty, but a complete tourist trap. Despite almost all of the countries annual income being from gambling,, its illegal for it's citizens to use any of the casinos there. Guess the king (the old one married one of my fav actresses grace Kelly) doesn't want people spending their money gambling instead pfnon taxes.
We also had some brilliant seafood there... Fairly cheap 'jumbo shrimp' turned out to be amazing crayfish, there were beautiful mussels, fresh fish, squid, octopus....
For a Quasimodo ego, I sur love seafood.
Anyway, soon we headed off to Provence - a town called Aix en Provence (which imm on the train, leaving). So that'll be a new post.
Au revoir

Back again...
Well, this has been exciting =) (and kinda lonely, cause no-one is commenting...HINT HINT)
We went to notredamn, which was amazing enough to have me planning a new story, damnit :)
and saint chappelle SP. which was soooo pwretty, and i'll attch pictures later.
We've been to the show stopping lourve, where we saw my possibly favorite sculpture of all rime - the winged victory. Then there's michaelangelos slaves, and august rodin's the kiss.
I love marble sculpture- really, really love it.
We also saw a massive Monet exhibition (the biggest in 30 years, they tell me) which was amazing. Saw the Monet classics, like the waterlilly bridge and they haystacks, but his work is amazing!
Then off we headed to gallerie la fayette (Lafayette inenglish - the cram it together) which is a HUGE shopping center. Looked for a leather jacket, only to be freaked out by all the real fur on that floor...gave me nightmares and made my skin prickle! Despitebwearing leather, which is kinda the same, fur seems kinda wrong...hypocritical, I know.
Anyway, after finding the worlds coolest jeans (light blue, skinny and ripped w/ sequins behind some parts, and soft as velvet) which they only had in size 44 and bigger (size 14approx) I got a cool scarf and top.
I kinda feel like a massive dork walking round Paris in jeans, sandshoes and baggie t-shirts with bad jokes in english on them...actually, I look like a complete loser - everyone dresses so well!
Yesterday I finally crumbled and bought a Paris hod die, though made it a uni of paris one rather than I heart Paris. Notbmuch difference, i know, but makes me feel less sad. :D
Yesterday, we also went to montemart, which is kinda the bohemian, artist area of Paris. Thats where the moulin rouge is, as well as where salavador Dali painted. Speaking of whom, we found a little Dali exhibition and went, which was pretty cool. Mum and John don't like his work that much, but I reckon it's pretty amazing. The Black, bold, spidery lines and sketches combined into an amazing linograph with the most beautiful, spectacular and not a little weird watercolor illustrations. His alice in wonderland illustrations are amazing, well worth a Google!
Anyway, at montmarte we climbed the 300 stairs to the top for the amazing, if graffitied view. I really don't see why people feel the need to declare their love for somone in god awful handwriting a lll over the walls of an ancient cathedral...
Anyway, on the steps of the cathedral, there was a sorta reverse busking thing happening. A busier from Africa was singing, then he got people from the audience to come up and he'd do guitar while they sang a song of their choice, then he collected money. Anyway, this lady called Alex from Australia came up and sang hallelujah, and she was AMAZING!
Strolling through the streets of montmarte with fresh crepes and gelatin was amazing.
ANITA! IHAD ORANGINA! (the drink they keep talking about in tapis volant) it's basically just orange juice + mineral water, only not as good.
Not sure if i wrote about Versailles in a previous post, but it was amazingly...OTT. I mean, you understand why they had the French revolution - the entire population was starving, and they use the entire treasury to build a new summer palace, covered in gold leaf.
And the food- not at versailles - thatbwas awful, but everywhere else, has been amaing! Not to make yup jealous (or hungry! :P) but I'll give you a rundown nof the best...
In Paris:
French onion soup - its really good, and they melt massive amounts of delicious cheese into it, over pieces of bread, in a small pot. Yuuuuummmmmm.
Top of the eiffel tower, before we were evacuated for a bomb threat, we finished our entree, which was a chilled pea soup. Greener than elphebas skin, it was amazing, with a tiny bit of cheese, minute silvers of bacon and fresh bread.
Squid (THIS IS NUMBER ONE- THE BEST OF FRANCE, BTW) that was cut into strips like pasta and was so fresh and sweet it was unbelievable. It had the the yolk of a soft-boiled, runny egg in the middle which ran all over the squid when you cracked it. This also had a bit of parmesan like cheese and a bit of bacon. Basicially, It was a reeeeaaaaalllyy fancy carbonara, simplified downnto it's base elements, only instead of pasta it had ribbon thin, centimeter wide strands of squid.
A little goats cheese and tomato tart. I'm a complete sucker for goats cheese, so wows, i was hooked.
A lobster tail risotto- i think this is number two on the best of list - it was tiny pieces of lobster in a thick, almost soupy, creamy, amazing risotto which was both light and really heart at the same time.I just can't quite describe how amazingly the flavors blend together.
A beef stew - I'm not big on meat- most of what i usually order is seafood or vegetarian. But this was rich, hearty, warm, salty, sweet- everything a stew should be. Really - it was Hogwarts worthy.
and no, I didn't eat all that food. Some was mums or johns that I tried and WISHED I'd ordered.
And and and I think I forgot to mention the amazing gargoyles at notredamn. When I find a CPU, I'll attach some.
We're in nice now, and because I haven't been able to post that blog for so man-days, I'll stArt a new post for the south.
Congrats on the dog, Carrie, thigh the fb thing sucks. Good work dancing Debbie and have a great time, em! Everyone else, have a brilliant holiday!
:) j'adore, k
We went to notredamn, which was amazing enough to have me planning a new story, damnit :)
and saint chappelle SP. which was soooo pwretty, and i'll attch pictures later.
We've been to the show stopping lourve, where we saw my possibly favorite sculpture of all rime - the winged victory. Then there's michaelangelos slaves, and august rodin's the kiss.

Je n`parler pas francais
Obviously... so, way to many sleepless hours on a plane later, im sitting in the hotel, typing on the very different keyboard saying:
BONJOUR DE PARIS!
i`m here, after arriving at the crack of dawn (read: 6.05 local time) and driving under the tour eiffel.
im not sure if this will come out in english or not, cquse it keeps converting to francais...
anyways, its freakin cold but beautiful - we watched the sunrise from the cab that took us to our hotel (the hotel one forgot to pick us up!) and had rolls w/ ham and cheese for petit dejeuner. yuuumm. anyway, we got like no sleep after our 20hrs flying, but are still sightseeing today (eiffel tour, musee rodin ((he sculpted)), champs elyees etc) so am drinking serious qmounts of coffee (and...its really good!).
if tess reads this - cause i am lacking in laptop, i planned four chapters, w/ new events by hand, + so,e really cute dee/remus moments!
our hotel is really beutiful, though? and so is paris. the parking is amazing - little rows of it in the middle of the road.
AND this keyboard is freaking ,e out - i'll send a pic? but to get a full stop i have to press shift, but there is a whole key for é, sabs shift.
qnd the stupid Q is where A should be, so if there is q rqndo, Q in the ,iddle of a sentence, just sub.
hows are all your hols?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLAUDIA - HAVE A GREAT ONE!
j'adore, Kath. =)

Parlez vous francais?
I'm sitting on the plane, blogging from mum's iPad, which is really weird. After much consideration and going against my instinct, I left my laptop at home. Three weeks sans laptop - it's like rehab!
Anyway, a sketch of what the plan is:
We fly for eight hours, until we land in singapore, where it will be 10pm their time, midnight Sydney time. Argh.
Then, I'm in singapore for not qUite thirty six hours beFore we drag our sleepy buts to the airport again And are on the plane to pppppaaaarrrrriiiisss PARIS for eleven hours. I have no idea what time we get in, Paris OR Sydney, but it'll probably be painful.
Anyway, I'm being told to turn this off, so will write later.
Happy holidays, everyone! And happy birthday to claudia for tomorrow if I can't email.
Love you all. :)
J'adore, kath. Xoxo

In my suitcase...
You'd find absolutely nothing, cause I still haven't packed!
ARGH!
Anyways, it'll probably just be my iPod, laptop and a change of undies, but hey, I'm like that.
The flight is tomorrow at three, so I'm not going to school and get to sleep in. Whoot!
Besides that, does anyone else have dreams of one day just spending a year travelling and doing whatever the hell they want? I want to get my general medical degree, then spend three months in Tanzania, working at a women's and children's clinic, then spend time in Italy, Greece, Spain, France, America, England, South America, Japan, India, Ireland and Vietnam.
Big dreams, I know. Big expensive dreams.
But if you don't have dreams, what have you got? Not a whole lot...
Anywhere you want to go, see, do, meet?
Think about it - set a goal. Maybe we'll get there, together.

duck and cover!
muck up day!
so being at school is hazardous to health:
-vaseline on those twisty locks so you cant open them
-putting plastic handcuff things on lockers so you cant open them
-honey on rails
-double glad wrap on toilets
-covering the bridge between sections w/ gladwrap so you have to scrawl
-silly spray
-drums
-class disruption
-dropping dozens of balloons from the top of the library
-water guns
-'pegging' (attacking w/ pegs) people
-surrounding locker areas w/ gladwrap so you can't get in
- chalk. EVERYWHERE.
and...
-a suspicious number of boxers and y-fronts lying around the school...
no streaking yet, but it's still the morning.

Whoopsidaisy.
Just read the grammar of that last post.
If that was someone else, I'd want to kill them.
Sucks that it was me, then.

english party and chapters of hell.
not really - finishing the first chapter was great, especially considering i think some bits were actually a little funny and it fits with the chapter my other-half of this story did (which is REALLY funny).
I love these characters so much - more than any OCs I've ever done. Maybe because they're not so unbelievable far fetched...
Anyway, because tess & i love this pair so much, we've already the tragic ways in which we are going to end their lives/loves in the sequel. and its AWFUL.
but we've come up with some mental stuff, which I'm already rolling out of my chair laughing, whenever i think about it...
and god, coming up with character songs is so much fun, but oh, so painful. I'll post some of my favs when I work out how (jane! help!)
and the english party was awesome - we just ate food and talked about books and writing and fanfiction, and I talked to some people I wouldn't normally and survived (OMG, i know! social skillz zat killz!)
Life is good (and not, but hey, it's life, at least).
Email, comment and cbox - It makes my life worth living when I hear from you guys.

back to life
heya world.
anyways, im really back online this time, although i have big brother looking over my shoulder. I'd rant about it, only i wouldn't want to stir the sleeping dragon...
so - hopefully, i'll be blogging from france w/ pics, which would be awesome. Hopefully people will read, cause that'd be cool. From another country.
WAAH! So excited.
Anyways, shoutouts to those going away this holiday - y'all know who you are. Congrats to finishing exams (tomorrow - PD, right?) btw - hope I can see you on thurs.
Happy birthday to Claudia, who's I will miss, and Eve's, who I will miss also. And Carrie's, who I miss. And Professor McGonagall (seriously! 4th october!).
Hope you all have a great time - I'll send you a birthday card! (try too, anyways)
Anyone who wants a postcard ( i really want to send them, this time) leave your address in my cbox, cause I lost my contact list. urgh.
I've got a rant/post coming up, with pics, so be warned! You might see someone you recognise. (from the mirror *facepalm*).
See you all soon!
WHOOPEE!!! FREEDOM IS ALMOST HERE!

Dear Diary
Well, welcome to planet Katherine. It’s a little way outta orbit, and is generally a little bit wobbly. But then, we’re all a little unbalanced in our own way, aren’t we?
I have a dilemma. I’ve been reading all these uber-cool blogs, only all of a sudden, they’ve gotten all depressing. I mean, really depressing. Like one? She’s talking to some imaginary, invisible person who she seems to despise lots and lots and lots, but at the same time, can’t seem to let go off. As totally awesome as this person is, don’t you think they need to let go and see how lucky they are to have all these amazing friends and people around them?
And another has barely blogged at all in ages. It’s her own choice, but I’m starting to wonder whats going on. I miss hearing her voice on there.
Another, I’ve gotten to know better and better through her blog than I have in real life. I already knew she was fantastic – generous, kind, funny and talented, but all of a sudden, she’s taken on a whole other dimension.
Some are witty, some are wistful, some have shown me the most amazing things through regular video updates. Some make me laugh, one made me cry and they all make me go, ‘That’s my…’ =)
If only they all could feel what I feel when I miss them, or when I hear from them, or when I read their blog.
The worst thing is the awkward silences. When I met them for the first time after I left, it was like no-one knew what to say. Just that they missed me. And how was I? Well, how would you be? And with empty words that hurt more with what is unsaid than what is, what do you expect?
I know they don’t mean it. I know they care. And I know they can’t help it. But none of that helps.
I wish they wouldn’t wish that I’d come back to PLC. Because I can’t move backwards. It only hurts when they say that.
At the same time, I’m so glad we’re keeping in contact, or, trying too. I’m so glad it hasn’t just fallen apart, and I’m so glad that I can read their blogs and their emails, and, without looking at the sender, know who wrote those words.
I’m so proud of some kicking the fb bucket, or trying to focus, or setting out to achieve their goals. I’m so proud that they could call me their friend.
I’ve met some amazing people at MLC, too. I owe my sanity, or what’s left of it, too them. Then again, they could be to blame for the loss of a great deal of it. To the nerdfighters at MLC, I say thank-you for opening your arms without question to me, and for accepting me 1001% for who I really am.
I love talking to them everyday, reading their blogs at night and skypie-ing in RE. I love FTL bookmarks and Mario-mushroom cakes and DFTBA records.
I’m so lucky to know so many great people. I’m so proud to be any of their friends. I’m so proud to be one of their friends.
I hope that one day, they can say the same. I hope I never let them down. I’m sorry I already have. And I’m sorry I can only put into words on a page what I could never say.
I don’t know if I’ll ever publish this.

dear steph plus everyone at plc
steph: in reply to...KATHERINE STAPLETON I WAS SO CLOSE TO WHIPPING YOUR ASS AND KICKING YOUR BUTT!!! THERE WAS ABOUT 500 POINTS BETWEEN US IN THAT FIRST LASER TAG GAME!!! STOP BEING SO FULL OF YOURSELF!
well, i'd give you a biting and sarcastic comment back but its not even worth it. when you win every game you play straight without fail by over 750 points, then you can tell me to stop being full of myself. in the meantime, me and my fantastically impressive ego are going to go and kick ass. like you TRIED to. in the FIRST game. phhhhhhhht.
to plc guys: see you (who's coming?) thursday arvo? Gen, I've got your books and you've got my dvds. we all really need to organise something soon, together, with alana. I'll drag her. *ALANA - IF YOU ARE READING THIS, THEN HINT HINT*
anyway, can you guys check the gallery page and see if anyone has the original of that photo of a photo? the one from jo's party?
and and and...
damn. forgot.
NO! WAIT! next installment of skinny genes and the b word coming soon (yes, i heard that communal groan).

so close....
damn, i almost got the first post out about hung parliament, but then my freakin computer crashed. DAMN YOU EVE.
anyways, a hung parliment, with the power now in the hands of four independants + the greens (who won melbourne from labor. whoot!) well, not whoot that they won it from labor, but whoot that they won it.
anyways, it looks like its going to be close. i think it'll end up being about rural australia and farmers rights and tax, which means that unfortunatly *chuckle* its not looking good for the abbott family. did you see his press conference with his daughters and wife with him this morning? I don't think they (his daughters, anyway) could have looked more embarrassed to be up there.
anyways, if he becomes PM, then i'll have to do a knight&day (funny movie, all) and shoot myself them him. urgh.
but really, i don't think either of them are that impressive - its just so close because neither of them are good enough.
well, anyways, back to my addiction to the election tracker, which tragically seems like its going to last another week to ten days, from the punters.
*sigh*
fingers crossed, everybody!

but really, i don't think either of them are that impressive - its just so close because neither of them are good enough.
well, anyways, back to my addiction to the election tracker, which tragically seems like its going to last another week to ten days, from the punters.
*sigh*
fingers crossed, everybody!
election, 21st 08
holy shizamolies.
today is election day (birthday shoutouts to annie ((not heasman)) and ari! =D i had a great day and so did everyone else and happy 15th/14th birthdays and i WHOOPPED YOUR ASSES, ALL =P)

lucky 13, AVPS style
Those of you who know me quite well will know that thirteen is a fairly special number for me. which is why I'm skipping number twelve on the revised letter list, and going straight to thirteen.
Of course, being a potential evil overlord, i must have an ulterior motive, which is this:
I don't believe Australia has a Prime Minister, and even if we did, I wouldn't have the faintest interest in writing to them, so I'm not going to waste my time (that's a change) and yours (holy crap! mark the date!) writing a BS filled fake letter.
so. number 13 - An animal (eg Winky, Buckbeak, Dobby)
deardobby
firstly, i would like to clarify that you are not Eve's dog, and that I think calling you an animal is mean, especially as you won the best death scene award.
your death was pretty much the only thing i cried at thing i cried at in the whole series. siriusly.
anyways, i think the fact that you hooked up with Narcissa Malfoy (who knew she'd be into beastuality?) and Draco was born as a result is pretty cool.
nice work - i think you sufficiently out choreographed Loo-Shush of the Pahntine.
lots of love (but not in that way)
Kath. =D

skinny genes and the b word part 1
are both two really, terrifying topics to cover. both for me, and, well, for you (well, i hope for you - that makes me feel better about writing it..((now i feel really bad...)) )
following my previous post (read: rant) on body and social image, i've got another whammy coming up. only this one is more scientific. (sort of).
i was reading in the sunday paper the other day in the life section (yeah, i know, i suck) when i found two articles that really struck me. the first was called skinny genes, and it was about the genetics of diets. how some people seem to be able to eat whatever they want and never put on weight, excercise regardless (*COOOOUGH deb COOOOOOOOUGH), whereas others seem to struggle with maintaining a health body weight. no matter the diets attemped or the excerise fad followed, nothing may seem to work.

I’m in the latter group, without a question. Only regular exercise and a (fairly) healthy diet keep pathetic self-control and chocolate from overwhelming me. I don’t bother with dieting – I’ve done nothing but salads for lunch for three weeks on end, with zip all as a result.
I’m happy with my body. I can easily play a full soccer game; run when I need too and canoe/hike/swim/backpack almost indefinitely. I’ve found that health eating and exercise keep me where I’m happy to be, which is why I’ve never understood diets.
Most of them are con jobs, or rely on starvation. Almost all are quick fixes and have nothing to do with nutrition or real health. Some of them, such as the widely published Lemon Detox Diet even have side effects such as peeling, scaly skin and hair loss, not dissimilar to symptoms that can be brought on by chemo.
And this is supposed to be desirable?
I’ve been thinking hard (scary, I know) and have finally come to a blinding obvious conclusion (Thank-you for that astounding observation, Watson,). The reason that there are so many dangerous diets on the market is because there is a market. This market is women, and advertising cruelly targets their self esteem and body image, turning a good day into an im-so-ugly-and-fat-i-should-be-dead day. I think that the reason there is a market for these ads is the enormous social pressure placed on women to be something attractive to men. I googled female clothing ads (something along those lines),  and the first actual CLOTHING one i found was these.
Both ads show ridiculously thin models with big boobs, hips and tiny waists. In both cases the women are viewed as sexual objects, there only for the man, and it is suggested that their only value is in their body.
I thought that both of the women in these images represented as an urealistic 'ideal' woman, so I emailed a couple of friends with a few questions. (for the record, they were guys). I asked them what they though of women, and showed them the pictures. Initial reactions were along the lines of;
'are they even real?'
'meh, too thin'
'christ she's bony...(that would be uncomfortable)'
I asked them if they'd be interested in dating these women.
'They look boring and...kinda pathetic.' was the gist of the general response.
So what do you look for in a girl?
'Humor, nice, interesting, fun,'
'Not one of those skimpy, barbiefied squealy twats,'
'Someone natural, like, comfortable in themselves. Confident, nice.'
'Not throwing herself at me' (don't flatter yourself, mate)
All of which gives me just a little more hope for the future of the world.
To be continued in skinny genes (complete) and the b word, part 2
girls and their bodies and boys and how they see them. please read. =) (hopefully the next will be more interesting)

glossy haired frankenstein
teenage girls these days are like glossy haired Frankensteins.
i have a problem with the way that modern society feels the need to completely morph who people are. i don't think the blame can be given to one person or entity - no, its far too big a problem for that.
when a fifteen year old girl hates herself for who she is, then there is something seriously freaking wrong.
so many adolescents hate their bodies, their eyes, their skin, their hair.
they worry about the photos taken of them (OMG, i look so fat!), and what they wear (and trust me, honey, not even the supre models look good in those rags) and who they're seen with.
every minute of everyday, they check myspace, facebook, bebo to see whos looking at them. they worry about what people think of them, and the fret that their own taste in clothes, music, books and movies isn't good enough.
isn't that disturbing?
magazines like dolly, frankie, cleo...they tell us what we should be. not people, but shiny, pristine cookie-cutter photocopies of the celeb of the day. like glossy, garnier haired, bulmic frankesteins who are one big emotional mess of bits and pieces torn from everything around them that they feel they have to be.
i was at the burwood the other day, and i heard someone i would call a friend talking to a guy. he said he liked the Jupiter disk of Stadium Arcadium, by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. She said she likes them too. I know for a cold hard fact that she hates them. with a passion.
I see girls trying to look like celebrities, or wearing clothes that are a far cry from anything they'd actually like, just because thats the fashion. Almost everyone looks exactly the same, and the saddest thing is that they think they're original. All because they saw it on a celebrity, 'read' it in a magazine or saw it on TV. What gives?
I think its so awful how so many girls feel inadequet because they don't fit the mold.
What i don't get is why they feel they cant pick up and be themselves, by picking up the mold, taking a nice good look at it, then throwing it down the stairs, taking a jackhammer to it, youtubing its destruction and then smoking it for inspiration (kids, don't do drugs or cigarettes. NOT GOOD)
i dare you to defy society's expectations and be whoever the hell you want to be. tell the world and that great, almighty, ambiguious They and tell them where to stick it. its idiotic that the media has such a large influence on pop culture and the way impressionable young adults see the world.
be skinny, be curvy, be tall, be short. be tan, be freckly, be pasty, be swarthy. be big, be small, be blond, be bruntette, be black haired, be ranga. be black, anglo, asian, european...be YOURSELF
society has no right to judge you when you don't be who they tell you. its stupid that stores like supre or magazines like dolly think that they have any right to tell you who to be, and its stupider still that so many girls feel 'uncool' or like a loser if they don't want to be told.
im smart, blonde, average height, average weight. I'm pasty, with freackles and a bad back and knees. i've got asthma and allergies, and i love vintage and jay jays. im a maths camp nerd and i love doctor who. i like MOM and Alex day and red hot chili peppers. a lot of people don't like me.
and you know what?
i don't care, because im HAPPY with who i am.

decision 2010
who cares?
i mean, really, their policies are virtually identical, and they both suck.
i mean, we vote to keep the worst party out, don't we? because no-one is really working for australia. i mean, they're spending millions of dollars per day to just get elected. i think this whole party thing doesn't really work - we need to elect the people in the government, no matter their party, and elect per office.
if they spent only half the money they spent on advertising or military on aide or infrastructure, the world would be a much better place.
but then again, if some of that military budget is going towards the assassination of tony abbott, then who knows? it might just be worth it.

florence and the machine
it so annoys me, music now. the fact that some of the greatest symphonic music in the world is no longer written - its in the past. the great classic rock of smashing pumpkins and counting crows and indigo girls and U2 and red hot chilli peppers and phil collins and bruce springsteen and midnight oil and tom petty and the heartbreakers, and the whitlams is dying. the gods of mowtown and swing and jazz have been all but forgotten, and even decent rap has died.
now, all you can hear on the radio is the bubblegum shit dressing up as edgy, or a drum with a synthiser over the top. santana has been replaced by miley freaking cyrus, and when, once in a blue moon, you hear real music on the radio again, new real music, its like a breath of fresh air, like Tegan and Sara, or Florence and the Machine, or Back to the Basement, or Blackberry Bluebird, but then suddenly its in the top ten, and everyone says they love the artist.
well, i hate to break it to you, everyone, but you have never heard any of their other songs. and you know what? if you did, you've called it crap without realising. and the next thing that happens is that the band sells their soul to a movie soundtrack (RIP Muse) or a brand, or a magazine, celebrity or do a duet with someone who barely deserves a blink in a moment.
we've gone from amazing, mindblowing, soulstealing orchestral pieces, to the unbelievable rock, folk, metal, rap, bluegrass and alternative, jazz, swing and mowtown of the last sixty years, but since computer editing became cheap, nasty and tacky we've seen everything go downhill.
singers no longer sing, and no one can play anything more that an keyboard, or use autotune of vocals. dancing has gone from something meaningfull and emotive, to a rhythmic twitch and shuffle, with elegance, grace, passion and drama a shadow of the once was.
im so sick of the popular industry and the large music record dominating the industry. i want to be able to hear real music, not soppy, mushy rap and hip hop, or edgy pop. i want to be able to go, hey, thats amazing guitar, piano, bass and drums. i want to be able to hear a trombone or double bass or string quartet in the middle of a rock song. i want to hear music that makes you think, makes you feel, makes you dream. i want to be able to share those tiny pockets of magic, which are getting popped like bubbles in the sun, with the world.
it sickens me, to the stomach, that artists feel the need to provide to popular culture, and who feel the need to write to sell. i hate that being yourself, or standing out from the world, is uncool.
god, im so mad, i cant write this anymore. mmy hands are shaking.
what is so bloody wrong with this world?
